How do you describe Minerva Reef? It is
about 275 miles south by south west of Tonga
but still some 800 nautical miles east by
north east of New Zealand yet is nothing more
to the eye than a couple of small bumps in the
middle of nowhere. At high tide there is only
a few coral rocks sticking up what seems to be
a few feet above the surface. At low tide there
is complete circle of reef, except for a small
passage in the northwest edge.
